Friday 27 October - All day

This event is one of a series of engagements that GEO Mountains is undertaking during 2023 under the Adaptation at Altitude Programme. Overall, the work seeks to provide a platform to bring together data providers and data users from a range of disciplines working across the mountains of East Africa.

Following preliminary discussions, the proposed foci of the workshop are as follows:

  • Exploiting existing climate data and information (gridded products, in situ time series, and climate change perception survey results) to conduct an intercomparison/evaluation of the utility of spatio-temporally complete gridded products in East African mountains, and;
  • Capacity sharing, such that local scientists and other stakeholders are able to conduct such analysis efficiently, and gain a sense of ownership of such work. In this way, a major knowledge gap regarding the reliability of remotely-sensed and other gridded climate data products (e.g. model reanalyses) in the region will be addressed, and capacities of scientists working in the region will be enhanced.
