As climate impacts rise, climate intervention is emerging as an important area of climate research. This townhall will include discussion of a new WCRP Lighthouse programme on climate intervention with a focus on the most rapid form of intervention, solar radiation modification, talks by researchers on recent model studies and a panel discussion of research and capacity needs for researchers from all parts of the world to evaluate the potential for SRM to reduce the catastrophic risks and impacts of near-term climate change.
